When sailing with St Hilda Sea Adventures, you will anchor in the most sheltered, idyllic places. Amongst some of the world famous islands such as St Kilda, Mull, Jura, Islay, Staffa and Iona. Here you can observe the wildlife, go fishing, swim in the sea lochs, visit the most prestigious and remote Whisky distilleries, or go ashore to explore. Dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, otters, red squirrels and many species of birds are regularly seen. Even the occasional Minke whale. We have even seen a breaching humpback whale in Loch Long!

We will now be operating out of Oban, the gateway to the Scottish Hebridean Islands. Sail among the spectacular isles of the West Coast of Scotland where there are large areas of sheltered waters. Perfect remote anchorages for all sorts of waterborne activities.

She is also perfect for learning how to sail, exploring wild and remote sea lochs, islands and coastlines. At the same time, seeing extraordinary wildlife or for just messing about on the water. Youngsters and adults love having a shot at hauling up the sails, setting the jib, main and mizzen and raising the anchor. Additionally, there is plenty of room on deck to carry canoes, windsurfers or cycles if you wish to bring your own.

The yacht tender takes you ashore according to your plans or can be used to explore shallow waters and responsibly approach the wild life. The west coast of Scotland is rich in birds, marine life. Sightings of otters, seals, porpoises, basking sharks and minke whales on your sailing holiday will never be forgotten. Sail the isles (Skye, Mull, St Kilda, Barra to name but a famous few) and spectacular coastlines of the West Coast of Scotland onboard a classic vessel, the ex-tall ship, St Hilda; a traditional, beamy, 54ft wooden (larch on oak) ketch, fitted with a kelvin R.6. 112 HP.

Accommodation

The roomy deck saloon is where everyone dines and socialises. Certainly enjoying the convivial atmosphere that is encouraged by life aboard the sea going-going wooden boat. Cabins are warm and comfortable for our six guests. Accommodation, we are offering our passengers the choice of a double en-suite, a twin en-suite and two single berths with adjacent toilet and shower rooms.

All linen and towels are supplied. The outdoor decks are perfect for spotting wildlife and relaxing and eating al-fresco when the boat is at anchor or under way. You also have plenty of space to embark your own equipment : bicycles, canoes, windsurf board, and others.
